Adani and Embraer Finalise Dholera for Aircraft Assembly

Ahmedabad, Gujarat: In a major boost to India’s aerospace ambitions, Adani Defence & Aerospace and Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer have finalised Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), Gujarat, as the preferred location for establishing a Regional Aircraft Final Assembly Line (FAL). The development marks a significant milestone in India’s journey towards becoming a global aviation manufacturing hub. The proposed facility will focus on regional aircraft assembly and is expected to gradually develop a comprehensive aerospace ecosystem in India. The collaboration will encompass local component manufacturing, supply chain development, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services, and pilot and technical training. Dholera’s selection comes as no surprise given its rapidly evolving infrastructure, strategic location, planned international airport, and world-class industrial ecosystem. The smart city has already attracted major investments in semiconductors, electronics, and advanced manufacturing, positioning itself as one of India’s most promising industrial destinations. The project is expected to generate substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities across engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and support services. Industry experts believe the initiative could strengthen India’s regional aviation capabilities and support government initiatives aimed at improving air connectivity to Tier-II and Tier-III cities. For Dholera, the aircraft assembly line represents another transformative milestone. The project is expected to attract ancillary industries, create a skilled workforce, and further establish Dholera as an emerging centre for aerospace manufacturing in Asia. The partnership between Adani and Embraer also aligns with the broader vision of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, reducing dependence on imported aircraft and fostering indigenous manufacturing capabilities. As Dholera continues its rapid development journey, the proposed aircraft assembly line could become a landmark project that not only reshapes India’s aviation manufacturing landscape but also reinforces Gujarat’s position as a leading destination for high-tech industrial investments.
